Chemical Safety Data Sheet (SDS), also known as Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) in some countries. SDS provides information on the safety, health, and environmental protection of chemicals, recommends protective measures, and emergency response measures. It is an important carrier for chemical suppliers to convey basic hazard information of chemicals to downstream users. The national standards "Content and Order of Items for Chemical Safety Technical Data Sheets" (GB 16483) and "Guidelines for Writing Chemical Safety Technical Data Sheets" (GB 17519) specify the content and methods for writing SDS.
Chemical safety labels are a combination of text, graphic symbols, and codes that represent the hazards and safety precautions of chemicals. The international "Regulations on the Writing of Chemical Safety Labels" (GB 15258) stipulate the requirements for the writing, production, and use of safety labels.
According to Article 15 of the Regulations on the Safety Management of Hazardous Chemicals, hazardous chemical production enterprises shall provide chemical safety technical specifications that are consistent with the hazardous chemicals they produce, and affix or hang chemical safety labels that are consistent with the hazardous chemicals inside the packaging (including external packaging). The contents stated in the chemical safety technical specifications and chemical safety labels shall comply with the requirements of national standards. If a hazardous chemical production enterprise discovers that the hazardous chemicals it produces have new hazardous characteristics, it shall immediately announce and revise its chemical safety technical specifications and chemical safety labels in a timely manner.
According to Article 37 of the Regulations on the Safety Management of Hazardous Chemicals, hazardous chemical enterprises shall not purchase hazardous chemicals from enterprises engaged in the production and operation of hazardous chemicals without permission, and shall not operate hazardous chemicals without chemical safety technical specifications or chemical safety labels.
