Compared with the 2012 version, the latest version of IEC 62133-2017 has the following differences:
1. Divide the standard into two parts: nickel based battery IEC 62133-1 and lithium based battery IEC 62133-2;
2. Include button type batteries in this standard (previous versions did not include button type batteries);
3. Updated the assembly of 5.6 battery packs;
4. Add mechanical testing for batteries (7.3.8.1 vibration and 7.3.8.2 impact), and cancel the transportation testing for battery cells;
5. Add IEC TR 62914 as a reference.
In addition, IEC 62133-2:2017 proposes the following technical revisions:
1. For external short circuits, battery cells only undergo high-temperature tests, while battery packs only undergo room temperature tests (whereas the 2012 version is the opposite);
IEC 62133-2:2017 Battery cell short circuit, test temperature modified to 55 ° C ± 5 ° C
IEC 62133:2012 Battery cell short circuit, previously tested at a temperature of 20 ° C ± 5 ° C
IEC 62133-2:2017 Battery Pack Short Circuit, Test Temperature Modified to 20 ° C ± 5 ° C
IEC 62133:2012 Battery Pack Short Circuit, previously tested at a temperature of 55 ° C ± 5 ° C
2. Change the heat abuse test time to 30 minutes (consistent with GB 31241);
IEC 62133-2:2017 Battery cell thermal abuse, test time modified to 30 minutes.
IEC 62133:2012 Thermal abuse of battery cells, with a test time of 10 minutes prior.
3. Delete the termination condition of "10% deformation" from the extrusion test;
IEC 62133-2:2017 battery cell compression, 10% deformation has been removed.
IEC 62133:2012 battery cell compression, with a requirement for 10% deformation.
4. Change the overcharge test voltage to 1.4 times the charging voltage for a single section (≤ 6V) and 1.2 times the charging voltage for multiple sections;
IEC 62133-2:2017 Battery Pack Overcharging, the test voltage is changed to 1.4 times the charging voltage for a single cell (≤ 6V) and 1.2 times the charging voltage for multiple cells.
IEC 62133:2012 Overcharging of battery packs, with a test voltage of 5V per cell before testing
5. Revised the forced discharge testing method and provided a reference test curve:
